What comes to mind when one hears the word “Tuscany”? A picturesque landscape, made familiar by its regular appearance in movies. Old stone houses, bursts of colours in the form of sunflowers and poppies, cypresses guarding the narrow roads that lazily follow the shape of the hills, clusters of olives trees and vineyards as far as the eye can see. These marvellous sceneries contributed so much to the popularity of Tuscany that it might be easy to forget that the region is blessed with wonderful sandy and rocky beaches too.
The Renaissance was an important period in the history of Tuscany and its heritage can still be found in famous art cities such as Florence, Siena and Pisa. Smaller towns like the fortified city of Lucca or Montalcino are a delight too. Perhaps a little less known, the Maremma region in the South is also bathed in ancient history and worth discovering.
Casa in Italia offers an extensive selection of holiday villas in Tuscany, many with private pools and sweeping views over the surrounding countryside.
