Located in the Borgagne area of central Salento, the villa is 3 km from the Adriatic Sea (locality of Sant'Andrea) and 7 km from the protected Oasis of the Alimini Lakes.
Borgagne is part of the municipality of Melendugno, an area characterized by vast fields of centuries-old olive-trees and a typical Mediterranean climate.

Central-eastern Salento is positioned between Lecce and Otranto and includes the stretch of coast of the Salento peninsula which is characterized by the famous watch towers built along the sea in ancient times to protect the territory: Torre Specchia Ruggeri, San Foca, Roca, Torre dell'Orso, Torre Saracena, Sant'Andrea.

A period country house with vaulted courtyards and ceilings, the villa has been completely renovated and fitted with all modern confort; air conditioning in the bedrooms.

USEFUL LOCAL INFORMATION:

The nearest beach is at Torre Sant'Andrea: a small village and sandy creek set between the crumbly high calcareous cliffs that characterize the whole of this stretch of coast, overlooking the transparent sea of a thousand shades of green-blue.  These are ideal places for diving, fishing, taking boat trips and swimming around the stacks.

Also worth mentioning is Roca Vecchia (around 10 km from the villa) which is known all over the world for the two Posia caves (erroneously also known as the Grotte della Poesia-Caves of Poetry), karst caves invaded by sea water, the photographic images of which have become iconographic of these places.

Melendugno is just 15 km from Melpignano.  The famous “taranta” festival called "La Notte della Taranta" is held here every year in August. This is the biggest festival in Italy and one of the most significant popular culture events in Europe.
