Castle Umbria

An old medieval castle built by Frederick II of Swabia in the 11th century. The perfectly preserved octagonal tower shows its origins.
Since 1901, the entire private estate has been kept and preserved by a noble family descended from Joseph Bonaparte ( King of Naples, and King of Spain) and Lucien Bonaparte,  both brothers of the Emperor Napoleon I.
The villa has been flagged as one of the 10 most beautiful houses in Umbria by Architectural Digest magazine, published by Condé Nast. It is surrounded by a large agriculture & livestock  farm, a 600-hectares territory  consisting of plains, forests, meadows and pastures as well as herds of hares, deer and Chianina cattle,  crossed by the river Tiber  and dotted with small lakes, waterways and medieval castles.
The private housing estate consists of the residential area, which is beautifully furnished with original antique furniture, the tower and the small consecrated church. The 5000-m2 garden has been designed by the famous landscape architect Alberto Margheriti , with many varieties of flowers blooming all year round, trees, oaks, olive and cherry trees, pomegranate bushes, lavender and rosemary, and a botanical herb garden.  Right in the middle of the garden  stands a large fan-shaped swimming pool, with fantastic view over the whole Tiber Valley and a large wooden gazebo. The garden is also equipped with table tennis, children's playground, free WIFI, stone barbecue, large outdoor dining table and suggestive atmospheric night lighting.
