Luxury apartment Capri
The apartment is located in an old historic palazzo, a splendid construction that stands out from every other building in Capri due to its position, size and architectural style. It is situated between the town center and Marina Grande and looks out onto the whole Gulf of Naples.
Palazzo Canale, one of the most famous buildings on the island of Capri, is depicted in the renowned painting by Jacob Philip Haeckert (1792) "A view of Capri with Mount Solaro" which is displayed in the Royal Palace or ”Reggia” of Caserta.
The building was purchased and completely renovated in 1738 by Sir Nathaliel Thorold, one of the first foreigners to settle on the “Blue Island” and subsequently became, amongst other things, the residence used by King Ferdinand IV during his quail hunting trips.
Thanks to its history, elegance and architectural importance, the Palazzo has been mentioned by the numerous writers who have described the beauties and history of Capri. The Palazzo is a listed building protected by the Italian Ministry of Artistic Heritage (BB.AA)
The apartment has been fully renovated to high standards of excellence and quality. It is less than five minutes away from the famous Piazzetta of Capri which can be reached along the Lo Palazzo footpath, named after the building itself. The strategic positon makes it possible to walk to all the services offered by the island : bus, funicular railway, restaurants, bars and the elegant stores in the famous Piazzetta which is around 300 meters away.
It is also possible to walk to the Marina Grande beach along a beautiful footpath of approximately 1 Km.
On request it is possible to organize guided tours of the island by land or by sea. The island has many places of historic interest and beautiful landscapes: Mount Solaro, Villa San Michele, the natural arch, the Blue Grotto, Villa Iovis and Villa di Tiberio. These offer just some ideas for dividing your time between the beach and the island’s attractions.
