Desenzano is surrounded by small, characteristic towns that are well worth visiting such as Lazise, Peschiera, Salò and, in particular, Sirmione. In the medieval center of Sirmione is the Centro Benessere Aquaria, at the center of a vast park overlooking the lake, which has been famous since Roman times for the therapeutic properties of the spa waters that are considered to have beneficial properties for beauty and general health.

The local gastronomy of Desenzano is excellent. The wine produced in the area is called Lugana and the extra virgin olive oil is also of a very high quality.
