Montemarcello is a splendid village of ancient origins, and is part of a list of "The most beautiful villages in Italy". It sits on a green promontory, covered in Mediterranean scrub, in what is surely one of the most attractive spots along the Ligurian coast, right on the border with Tuscany.  Here you can certainly enjoy the broadest and best panoramas of the area: the eastern part is framed by the Apuan Alps, with the typical white stripes of the marble quarries, then there's the Versilian coast with the mouth of the river Magra, and all around is open sea, where you can glimpse the island of Gorgona and even Corsica on a clear day, then towards the west is the Gulf of La Spezia (the famous Gulf of Poets) with the promontory of Portovenere and the islands of Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto, where the sun sets.
The property, which is just a 5 minute walk from the village of Montemarcello, consists of a Saracen watch-tower dating back to around 1200, which has been converted into the main residence, and 3 beautiful little houses: Casa Azzurra, Casa Gialla and Casa Bianca.
The perfectly furnished and equipped villa that has been realized in the former tower is situated on the highest part of the hill and offers stunning views.  Outside there is a beautiful garden and panoramic terrace.  A courtyard in front of the living room has tables and a beach umbrella where guests can eat “al fresco”.
Casa Azzurra, the nearest house to the Tower, is part of a typical Ligurian stone house.  It can also be reached by foot along a paved road that starts at the village.  It has a beautiful private garden with wood-burning oven and a splendid view of the Gulf of La Spezia.
Casa Gialla is a small house that is suitable for two people, whilst Casa Bianca is the only house that is accessed by going out of the gate and following the lane that runs alongside the property for around 100 meters.
The 3 properties have recently been carefully renovated and tastefully furnished in a comfortable modern style.  Each one has its own furnished outdoor area as well as flat screen TV and Ipod dock.
There is a beautiful swimming pool (7 x 15 m) surrounded by greenery with magnificent views of the Gulf of Poets that is reached by following a footpath through terraces covered with olive trees.
Montemarcello is situated in the heart of a Nature Park making it ideal for trekking enthusiasts.  Many of the paths lead to isolated bays and characteristic villages.  Visitors can take a ferry from the harbor of Bocca di Magra (5 km) to Le Cinque Terre, Lerici, Portovenere and the many pebble beaches in the area.
When booking this property it is possible to request the services of an excellent chef who can organize unforgettable suppers and introduce guests to the typical local cuisine.
The top floor of the Tower cannot be used by guests.  The top floor of the tower is closed.  In the Villa, due to the structure of the terrace, it is very important that children be fully supervised
