Casa Rufo is a modern retreat that sits quietly on a hillside above Castiglione Chiavarese, perfectly embedded in the Ligurian landscape. The house was conceived as an architectural statement from the outset, combining clear geometric forms, carefully selected materials and sophisticated technical solutions, all designed to frame the surrounding scenery.

Reaching the property is an experience in itself. A historic stone arch marks the entrance to a private path, where traditional stone steps wind their way up through the hillside. Casa Rufo stands on a generous 7,000 m² terraced plot, structured by characteristic dry-stone walls that echo the region’s building heritage. The natural stone façades reference this local tradition and allow the architecture to merge seamlessly with its environment.

The interior has the atmosphere of a curated design gallery. White walls create a calm backdrop for an exceptional collection of original furniture by internationally renowned designers. Sofas, armchairs, lights and tables have all been selected with great care. Large floor-to-ceiling windows blur the boundaries between inside and outside, offering wide views across the rolling hills and towards the distant Ligurian Sea.

All bedrooms feature their own en-suite bathrooms. Throughout the house, a state-of-the-art climate system provides underfloor heating during cooler months and underfloor cooling in summer. Fresh air is supplied year-round by a controlled mechanical ventilation system with filtration.

Outdoors, the 18 × 4 metre infinity pool is the visual centrepiece. With two overflow edges, it appears to dissolve into the landscape beyond. Positioned directly in front of the living area, the pool terrace naturally becomes the heart of outdoor living.

An integrated garage on the upper level and additional outdoor parking spaces add to the comfort of the property. Although the setting is peaceful and secluded, the beaches of Sestri Levante are just 10 km away. Genoa Airport (50 km) and Pisa Airport (110 km) ensure convenient international access. The village centre can be reached easily on foot via the private pathway.

Equipment:

You enter the house via a black stone staircase. On the ground floor, a spacious living and dining area with an open, fully equipped kitchen welcomes you. Between the living area and the sleeping area lies a large terrace with a generous dining table – perfect for outdoor meals and relaxing moments overlooking the surrounding landscape. From the living room, you have direct access to the pool area.

The sleeping area includes three double bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom.
