• 14-metre dark infinity pool with panoramic views
• Secluded setting surrounded by olive groves and fruit trees
• Elegant interiors with terracotta floors and wooden beam ceilings
• Spacious outdoor area with covered terrace and barbecue
• Only 15 km from Lucca, ideal for cultural visits and day trips
Macennere is a distinctive holiday home with infinity pool set in a secluded position in the hills near Lucca. Nestled in a clearing and surrounded by olive groves and fruit trees, the property enjoys wide panoramic views across the hills and down to the plain of Lucca – an ideal setting for guests seeking peace, privacy and nature.
The house was designed by a renowned English interior designer for private use and combines authentic Tuscan character with understated elegance. Original terracotta floors and exposed wooden beam ceilings have been carefully preserved, creating a warm and refined atmosphere throughout the interiors. The tasteful design has been featured in “The World of Interiors” and in “The Times”.
The outdoor area is spacious and thoughtfully arranged, offering several areas for relaxation. A large covered terrace with barbecue provides the perfect setting for outdoor dining, while the surrounding garden offers numerous quiet spots to unwind.
A standout feature of the property is the striking 14-metre dark infinity pool, which blends harmoniously into the landscape and offers beautiful views over the surrounding countryside – perfect for relaxing moments.
Despite its peaceful and secluded setting, the historic town of Lucca is only about 15 km away and easily accessible. With its charming old town, lively piazzas and cultural attractions, it is ideal for day trips. Macennere therefore combines the tranquillity of a rural retreat with proximity to one of Tuscany’s most attractive destinations.
Access to the property is via an approximately 1.5 km forest track, which is not suitable for cars with very low ground clearance.
Macennere is an ideal choice for guests looking to experience Tuscany in a quiet and authentic setting, with privacy, style and far-reaching views.
Guests say:
‘The holiday home exceeded our expectations. We agreed that this was the most beautiful and lovingly furnished house we have stayed in. Everything styled down to the last detail, yet cosy. Individualised with all the kitchen utensils that are available when the owner lives there himself. The bedrooms are almost equally divided with lovely bathrooms. With its own vegetable garden for use and loving care by 2 gardeners and a cleaning lady. However, you should not be put off by the access road, which is a little time-consuming. This seclusion is of course also what makes it so special, as you feel as if you are in your own world. For big sightseeing tours, the journey is rather daunting, which was no problem for us...... slow down!!!’
‘The week in Macennere in autumn remains unforgettable for me. As soon as we arrived, we were surrounded by the very special atmosphere of the old stone house - the peace and solitude in the middle of the forest and the wonderful view of the Tuscan countryside. We started each day with a dip in the ‘dark pool’ - the cool water, the fresh autumn air, simply invigorating.
We spent the evenings in the spacious kitchen, which became our common meeting place. Every evening had its own flavour, as each of us was allowed to conjure up our favourite dish for the group. These cooking evenings were full of laughter, stories and, of course, delicious flavours that filled the kitchen.
But the highlight was the last evening. We decided to hike down the steep forest path to San Martino in Freddano. Once there, we treated ourselves to a well-earned beer in the small bar, which seemed like a meeting place for the whole village community. At the end, the locals invited us for a ‘spaghettata’ - simple spaghetti with fresh ingredients, yet full of flavour and warmth that you rarely experience. It was an evening that connected us with the warmth of the Tuscan people.
Macennere not only offered beautiful landscapes and relaxing moments, but also encounters and experiences that I won't soon forget.’
